How to get to Bled

Activities in Bled
Take a tour around the lake
It is one of the most enjoyable activities you can do. You can enjoy the view from every angle on this fairly comfortable track and be enchanted with its beauty again and again.
The route has a total length of about 5 km, but takes a bit longer than expected because of the desire to stop engrave that view every 10 minutes 🙂
Bled island
There is only one church on this tiny island in the middle of the lake, but it is the main tourist attraction. This is also a very popular route for marriage ceremonies because, according to legend, the groom carrying the bride along 99 stairs leading up to the church brings abundance to the new family.
You can reach this island by traditional boats called “Pletna”, which you can see around the lake. But I think it is much more enjoyable to watch the island from afar.
Bled Castle
Overlooking the lake and the small town of Bled, this castle is turned into a museum. It also has a cafe and a restaurant. As someone who does not usually like to visit museums, I did not enter here, but I am sure that the view is quite beautiful.
Hiking
Of course, there are many trekking routes in the Julian Alps in Slovenia, the eastern end of the Alps. I think you should definitely try one or more depending on the time you are planning to spend here.
My favorite was the Osojnica hill where you can see the lake from the top, of course. It’s a 25 minute walk on a fairly steep route, but the view that finally welcomes you is definitely worth it.
Boat trip
It is possible to take a tour in the lake by the traditional boats I mentioned above or by electric boats or small boats that you can rent on the shore.
Bled city
This small city is quite shaded with the magnificent beauty of the lake it is located on, but there is not much to see if you ask me 🙂 There is a huge casino on the lake, cafes and restaurants with super views and, if you are interested, also a church 🙂
Prices in Bled
Considering that it is one of the most touristic places in Slovenia and the huge casino by the lake, it is not hard to guess that the prices in Bled will be above the country average. Yes, it is a little expensive, but it is expensive by Slovenian standards. So if you compare it to big European cities, it can be considered normal. Since it is free to enjoy natural beauty anyway, I think you don’t need to hesitate 🙂
For example, one of my favorite activities was to buy fresh pastries from the bakery and to have breakfast with the tea I prepared at the hotel in the magnificent view of the lake 🙂
How much time should be planned for Bled?
Even a day trip will be enough to discover this beauty, but for those who want to stay, there are all kinds of options. I think how much time you want to spend in this heaven-like place plays a decisive role here 🙂
